SCMS: Our 2008 President
Eric Bleyer, M.D.




Eric Bleyer, MDEric Bleyer, M.D., is an Internist and Pediatrician with Koke Mill Medical Associates in Springfield, and is the 2008 President of the Sangamon County Medical Society (SCMS). He is a Diplomate with the American Board of Internal Medicine, a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Bleyer graduated from the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine, here in Springfield. Prior to attending medical school, he received his master of public health degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

He completed a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency program, also here at the SIU School of Medicine.

Since 1999, he has practiced with Koke Mill Medical Associates, and has been an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine/Pediatrics with the SIU School of Medicine. He also serves on the Executive Committee of Memorial Medical Center's Board of Directors.

Dr. Bleyer has served on SCMS's Board of Directors since 2004, and served as Chairman of their Education/Program Committee in 2004 and 2005. He continues to serve as Chairman of their Government Relations Committee, and as a Delegate to the Illinois State Medical Society's annual House of Delegates, their policy-making body.

A native of Carterville, Illinois, he and his wife, Lorie Bleyer, M.D., also an Internist and Pediatrician with Koke Mill Medical Associates, are the parents of two children.
