CME Courses
May the following information serve as resource and guidance to our SCMS members as they maintain their Continuing Medical Education licensing requirements. Please keep in mind we are but one source for obtaining information on CME activities. SCMS has gleaned the internet and identified some of the primary sources for on-line and often free CME programs, including those provided by our joint sponsor, the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine - Springfield. If you are aware of additional sources of information we should be providing, please let us know; click here to send an email to SCMS.

SCMS Members earn CME credits through SIU School of Medicine
In 2006, we entered into a collaborative agreement whereby the SIU School of Medicine and the Sangamon County Medical Society will jointly sponsor continuing medical education activities that are designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ by the SIU School of Medicine to our physician members.

CME activities are planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the ACCME through the joint sponsorship of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Sangamon County Medical Society. The SIU School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

Our members will be allowed to receive such credits at no charge for these activities only if they are developed by SCMS and approved by the School of Medicine. (Note: that if SCMS members register for any other SIU School of Medicine activities, they would need to pay the usual registration fee.) Periodically, and as part of our agreement, we will be conducting a needs assessment by surveying our members electronically.
